Welcome to The Care Florist, an advice column to help nurture a compassionate design practice.

A new space for questions and conversations

Social Workers Who Design is excited to share something we’ve been working on, inspired by the many meaningful inquiries we’ve received about care, ethics, and trauma-informed design. Over the years, the community has often wished our founder could respond more broadly to these questions, opening them up for more extensive conversations.

To create that space, we’ve launched The Care Florist. Inspired in part by Roxane Gay’s Work Friend column and Nick Cave’s The Red Hand Files, this column offers a space to explore questions and reflections about care-centered work. The hope is to bring a similarly thoughtful and conversational approach to the topics we care deeply about.

If you have a question or situation you’d like us to explore, you can do so using the link below:

We hope The Care Florist can become a resource for our growing community by fostering thoughtful, trauma-informed conversations and offering new ways to navigate the complexities of our work.
